GERRY C. SCHMELTER graduated from Pepperdine University, and received his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1984. Before joining the firm, Mr. Schmelter practiced law in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., emphasizing complex litigation matters including business disputes, insurance coverage, and professional liability. He has extensive experience in litigation involving real property, partnership and corporate disputes, insurance, professional liability, class actions, securities and business practices claims. In addition, Mr. Schmelter has handled appellate matters at all levels of the California and federal courts. Mr. Schmelter is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and the American Bar Association, for which he serves on the Committees on Business Torts and Class Actions. He also serves as an Arbitrator for the San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Schmelter is rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell, and has been designated as a “SuperLawyer” and as a San Diego “Top Attorney.” In addition, Mr. Schmelter is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for The Street Child Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving homeless children in Uganda.
